Mr. Pittman's 5th Grade Classroom

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. David Pittman

I was born on Saint Patrick's Day in San Gabriel, California and spent my entire youth in Southern California. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy when I was 18 and attended Boot Camp after my senior year in high school. After various schools, I eventually became a submariner and had the pleasure of serving on the USS Dace (SSN 607), USS Pintado (SSN 672), and USS Topeka (SSN 754). During my Navy days, I traveled all over the United States and to many foreign countries and waters. I retired in 1993 as a Master Chief and entered the non-profit world working as a grant writer, administrator, and adult educator. I finally found my niche teaching at the elementary/middle school level where you can find me today. My current hobbies include woodworking, landscaping, gardening, computers, road trips, auctions, and working with veterans’ organizations. My education includes an M.Ed. in Educational Administration, a B.S. in Occupational Education, and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. I hold California Community Colleges administrative and teaching credentials in addition to a Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in K-8 education. My wife, Rose, hails from Prescott, AZ. She is an avid quilter and all-around "crafty" person. My family has been living in Kitsap County since my retirement from the Navy.
